The outcome of last night’s Iowa Caucus results was a big surprise to most people following the race for the White House. It would be remembered as one of the closest results in Iowa Democratic caucus history, while on the Republican side, there was an unexpected victory against the favorite to win (Trump).
Bernie Sander (74 years old) has a tag of “Unelectable” because of his socialist beliefs and policies such as imposing higher tax on the Wall Street, raising minimum wage, scraping tuition fees at colleges and universities and most importantly, health system reform. He has no “big sponsor” (obviously capitalist will never sponsor a socialist) which mean no millions in the bank to run election campaigns. Sanders is the least favorite to come close to defeating Hilary Clinton but to my greatest surprise, the Iowa Caucus was a different ball game. Hillary Clinton struggled to pull 49.9% of total votes while Sanders pulled 49.5% of total votes.
In the republican camp, Donald trump, the favorite to win, lost to Ted Cruz winning by 26% while Trump got 23%. This is a big disappointment to Donald Trump who once said “No one remembers who came in second”. Regardless of what is happening in the republican camp at the moment, they are not
Iowa Caucus results shows that the young generation of today cannot trust renowned politicians anymore. This is quite similar to the UK when Jeremy Corbyn surprised everyone to claim victory at the Labour’ election. One thing is quite similar to Sanders and Corbyn; they are both hard core socialists and going by the election result, 84% of total votes for Sanders came from ages 17-29% which is almost the same result as that of Corbyn
Hilary Clinton who is the favorite, will definitely have to struggle to eventually win the Democratic Ticket. Victory at Iowa (a region known for hardcore religious followers) is a good way to start because Iowa is not really her stronghold (may be because shes not an evangelist or so religious unlike Ted Cruz ). In 2009, she lost Iowa to Obama and that literally dragged down her momentum. With Majority of Youths and Socialists strongly behind Sanders. It will definitely be a tough game for Mrs Clinton to beat.
For a moment, let’s imagine Bernie Sanders wining the US election and Jeremy Corbyn wins in the UK. Tell me about it! No country for capitalists.
